What is mentoring?

There are many definitions of mentoring but at MentorgOrg we have selected a few which we believe go some way to define Mentoring:


A structured one-to-one relationship or partnership that focuses on the needs of the mentored participant.

Good mentoring is a skill where unbiased and objective support promotes learning. Mentors listen, challenge and help you review your progress!

Mentoring is a highly positive process which enables individuals and employees achieve their full potential.

A partnership based on trust.

Mentoring is a supportive learning relationship between a caring individual who shares his/her knowledge, experience and wisdom with another individual who his willing and ready to benefit from this exchange to enrich his/her professional journey.

One who guides without leading, teaches by example, and is willing to let the mentored one experience the bumps needed for learning and growth to take a place

A supportive relationship sustained over a period of time,
